Junior Achievement seeks nominees for Business Hall of Fame

Junior Achievement of Eastern Iowa is accepting nominations from the community for the 2012 Corridor Business Hall of Fame.

Individuals inducted into the Business Hall of Fame are outstanding business leaders who have made legendary contributions to the free enterprise system.

An independent committee will select three individuals who will be inducted as laureates as well as a young entrepreneur at a black tie gala held in their honor on Thursday, Sept. 27 at the Cedar Rapids Marriott, 1200 Collins Rd. NE.

Individuals are encouraged to nominate business leaders who have accomplished significant business and personal goals while making Eastern Iowa a better place to live. These individuals:

-- Make an impact on their industry or organization;

-- Bestow integrity as an ethical business leader;

-- Are committed to bettering the community as a whole;

-- Display leadership qualities, which allow them to be exemplary role models for all of us – especially the children of Eastern Iowa;

-- Exhibit an entrepreneurial spirit  in starting or significantly advancing local business.

Nominees for the Young Entrepreneur Award must exemplify the same qualities, have started or purchased a business, be a current or previous resident of the Cedar Rapids or Iowa City area, and be 40 years of age or younger at the time of the event.

Past Business Hall of Fame Laureates were Arthur Collins, Howard Hall, Russell Knapp, William Quarton, Robert Kazimour, Lee Liu, LeRoy Skogman, George Forestner, Abbott Lipsky, Dr. Lee Noel, Robert Allsop, John Buchanan, Jack Cosgrove, Norm Nielsen, Charles William Seedorff, Henry Tippie, Arthur Christoffersen, Russell Gerdin, A. James Tinker, Bert and Henry Katz, Cheryle Mitvalsky, Herbert Wilson, Harold Becker, Willis (Bill) Bywater, Henry Royer, Mary Quass, Albert Ruffalo, John Smith, Rex Eno, Emmett Scherrman, Robert Verhille, Dick Ferguson, Dwight Hughes, Jr., Scotty McIntyre, Willard “Sandy” Boyd, Wayne Engle and Steve West.
