JANE MCGANNON
Cedar Rapids
She is proud, she is fierce, she is strong, she is mom.
Jane Michelle McGannon, 53, of Cedar Rapids, was called home on Saturday, May 21, 2016. She died peacefully, surrounded by loved ones at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics.
Jane was born Aug. 24, 1962, in Rock Island, Ill., the daughter of James V. and Mary Agnes Roegiers. Jane graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1980. She went on to receive her bachelor's degree from the University of Iowa in 1984 and her master's degree as a speech pathologist from the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point. She worked as a speech pathologist for over 20 years. She loved her career, but her family and friends were Jane's passion and delight.
On Feb. 5, 1993, Jane married the love of her life, Tom McGannon. She raised two children, but absolutely adored her granddaughter, Laila. Jane thoroughly enjoyed warm weather, the outdoors, cooking and knitting. She cared deeply for the ones she loved and had been that way since birth.
Survivors include her husband, Tom; their children, Allie and Louis; stepson, Ryan; sisters, Jean (Larry) Fobian, Jill (Kevin) Miller and Joni Bryant; brother, Jim (Julia) Roegiers; mother-in-law, Lois McGannon; and the one who called her "Nana," her only grandchild, Laila. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents and father-in-law, Robert McGannon.
