Opperman, Earlene F.
Earlene F. Opperman, 82, of the Meth-Wick Community, Cedar Rapids, died Monday, July 12, 2010, at the University of Iowa Hospitals, Iowa City, after a sudden illness. Graveside services at 11 a.m. Friday at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Merle; one daughter, Laura (Ed) Wootton of Omaha, Neb.; and four sons, Gregory of Phoenix, Ariz., John (Laurie) of Marion, and Kenton and Brett, both of Cedar Rapids.
She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and one brother.
Earlene was born on Feb. 7, 1928, in Morley, the daughter of Earl and Frances Osborne Huston. She married Merle B. Opperman on Nov. 5, 1948 in Barnsville, Ga. Earlene worked at Square D and retired from there after more than 36 years of service. She was a member of the Teamsters union.
Earlene enjoyed fishing, watching the various birds and animals in her yard, gardening and especially the time spent with her beloved family.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Earlene's name.
