By Tamara L. Sigmon: On Aug. 30, 2001, just two weeks before the tragedy, I had my youngest daughter.
On Sept. 11, 2001, I was waiting for my husband to get off the school bus where he was working when I got a phone call, telling me to turn on the television. I could not believe what I was watching. When my husband did get home, we went down to Maynard's to shop.
I told him what was going on, and as soon as we got to the store, they had a big-screen TV on right in front of the door as we came in. We stepped into the store and saw the first tower fall.
This made me think about the time when I went to New York and went up in the tower with my parents as a teenager. I looked over at my husband, and I could see anger in his eyes and mixed in with that I saw sadness, because I could see tears fill them.
I also remember looking around to other people, and I saw the same thing. As for myself, I was in shock because I could not believe that someone would attack America like that and not realize what would happen.
Then I thought that was what they wanted to happen -- WAR! They got it!
