Are you and the kids heading to this Saturday's Downtown Farmer's Market?
If the kids aren't too excited about hanging out with you while you find that perfect batch of tomatoes for your Labor Day party salsa, then feel free to drop by Greene Square Park this Saturday for the Central Corridor Gamers Family Activity Center.
Volunteers will be on hand for any number of activities for the kids. Decorate a reusable shopping bag to carry your tomatoes and onions for that homemade salsa. Decorate a pencil pouch. Learn to play Magic The Gathering. Make friends with other gamers in the community.
The mission of our event is to create awareness of Central Corridor Gamers (CCG). Our group is a local youth outreach non-profit organization dedicated to providing our community with a place to make friends and build camaraderie by means of game-related events, outreach, fundraising, and volunteer opportunities.
We regularly meet on Wednesday and Sunday evenings from 6-10 in the evening. In addition to our regular meetings, we promote involvement in our community by creating events such as Costumes for Kids. As a matter of fact, this Saturday, we will be launching our Costumes for Kids collection drive.
Before you come down to Saturday's Farmer's Market, open up the closet and find those gently used Halloween costumes that simply don't fit anymore. The week before Halloween, costumes, trick-or-treat bags, and safety lights will be distributed to local kids in need. We feel that everyone deserves to enjoy the escape that Halloween provides us all. There's nothing like the look on a kid's face when he feels like he can be Buzz Lightyear for a night. Imagine the smile on your daughter's face when she found out that she could be a princess for a day. Now imagine the smiles that your generous donation will create for other local children.
