Gilbert E. "Gil" Lindberg, 72, of Tipton, passed away Friday, April 27, 2018.
A gathering for family and friends will be held Saturday, May 5, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Gay & Ciha Funeral Service in Iowa City. Graveside services with military honors will follow at St. Bridget Cemetery near Morse. Condolences may be shared with Gil's family at www.gayandciha.com.
Gil was born Aug. 15, 1945, in Elmcrest, Ill., the son of Gilbert and Betty Lindberg. Gil served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and attended the University of Iowa. He worked for 30 years at the former Wilton Steel Mill, retiring in 1999. Gil married Joan Stockman in 1979, who had preceded him in death. He married Sandra Dennis on Dec. 28, 2007, in Iowa City.
His family includes his wife, Sandy; her children, Jesse (Rachel) Rohret, Brian (Stephanie) Rohret, Julie (Rikki) Rohret and Amber Corso; Sandy's grandchildren, Charlotte, Hoyt and Sutter Rohret; Gil's siblings, Cynthia (Ron) Madsen of West Branch, Susan (Steve) Lindberg of Missouri, Cheryl (Dan) Gunther of Colorado and Stephen Lindberg of West Branch.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his first wife, Joan, and her son, Robert R. Lowenberg..
