Starting Monday night: 'On Iowa Live,' the television/Internet sports show
Mike Hlas Aug. 24, 2011 11:42 am
Most companies have a mission statement. Mine is to make good pizza.
No, wait, that's the mission statement at the place I have my part-time job as a delivery man. The mission statement at my place of full-time employment is to make the sportswriters become more flexible. Professionally, not physically. Although, a few more stretches a day wouldn't hurt.
So, with the essential help of actual television professionals including KCRG's sports guys, Gazette/TheGazette.com sportswriters Scott Dochterman, Marc Morehouse and I will join a KCRG-TV on-air pro each Monday night to talk sports.
For the first few months, I suspect Iowa football will pop up in the discussion. Like, oh, constantly. We'll take Twitter questions on Mondays to sprinkle into the conversation.
The show will air live each Monday from 6:30 to 7:30 at Capone's, a cool new restaurant in Cedar Rapids' New Bohemia district in a building that once was a bank. It will be on KCRG 9.2 in Eastern Iowa, and it will be live-streamed on KCRG.com.
I'm not going to give away much of the first week, but it will involve an immunity idol, Snooki, and a special musical performance from Donny and Marie Osmond.
