Mauch, Peggy
Our family mourns the passing of our beloved Peggy Mauch (nee Gottschalk) 71, of Iowa City, formerly of Bettendorf, Kansas City and Hankins N.Y. Peggy died peacefully surrounded by her family on Nov. 3, 2013, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics after a brief battle with cancer.
Peggy was born in Hankins, N.Y., and received her B.A. in education from Albany State and a master's in education from the University of New Orleans.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, James and Margaret (Huff) Gottschalk of Hankins, N.Y.
She was a dedicated and loving wife of 47 years to Bernie Mauch; adoring mother of Michele (Rod) Bowman of Iowa City, Bill (Angie) Mauch of the Quad Cities and Rosi (Josh) Rosenberg of Denver, Colo.; amazing grandmother of Kathleen and Jessica Bowman, Maddie and Zoe Mauch and Riley and Elle Rosenberg; beloved sister of Jim (Linda) Gottschalk of Atlanta; and aunt and sister-in-law to many.
We will remember her for how much she loved her family, for her wonderful laugh, for her loyalty to her many friends and for her faith. Always kind and concerned for others, she enriched the lives of all who knew her.
Sincere thanks to Father Ed Fitzpatrick of the Newman Center, to her medical team at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and to her many friends who provided such loving support.
The family will greet friends on Nov. 7 beginning at 4 p.m. at The Newman Catholic Student Center, 104 E. Jefferson St., Iowa City, followed by a Mass of Celebration at 5:15 p.m., and a reception in the family home.
Memorials may be directed to the University of Iowa Foundation for Cancer Research, the Newman Center or to PEO for the Peggy Mauch Scholarship Fund.
