Angela "Angie" Kay McGinness, 46, of Chicago, passed away unexpectedly on Feb. 24, 2016, at her home.
Service of Remembrance will be 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28, at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City. Father Ed Fitzpatrick will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for the education of Angie's nieces and nephews.
Angie was born Jan. 7, 1970, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Ed and Janaan (Cookman) McGinness. Angie graduated from Iowa City High School in 1988, the Mercy College of Nursing in Des Moines and received her BSN at Purdue University. Angie was a nurse at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.
Angie liked to cook and bike, especially on RAGBRAI. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeye wrestling and football fan and a Chicago Cubs fan.
Most important to Angie was family, especially her nieces and nephews: Keagan, Alexandra, Connor, Gavin, Aiden and Addison.
Angie is survived by her parents, Ed and Janaan of Iowa City; her brothers, Bryan (Andrea) McGinness of Clive and Jeff (Jami) McGinness of Iowa City; her uncle and aunts, Jim McGinness of Moravia, Cherie (Ken) Ferguson of Spirit Lake, Luann Mehan of Milford and Maureen (Ken) Butcher of Ankeny; and her significant other, Tome Obicere of Chicago.
Angie was preceded in death by her grandparents.
