Leonard Keith Grosvenor was born Feb. 11, 1938, in rural Davis County, Iowa, the son of Gerald L. and Mildred (Osing) Grosvenor. Following graduation from Bloomfield High School in 1955, he enlisted in the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Ivalee M. Williams, but they later divorced. Leonard was never afraid of hard work. He had worked numerous jobs over the years, but since moving to this area, he held just two jobs. During the 1970s, he was associated with the Coralville Police Department as an officer. During this time he also started a job with River Products Co. He continued with them for over 30 years, retiring in 2003. His work, fishing along the river, and striking up a conversation with anyone was the Leonard many knew and loved. He was born into a large family, one that taught you the value of family and friends, something that Leonard lived each day knowing.
His family includes his children, Sherry Grosvenor of West Liberty, Mary Jo Hoffman and Kenny Laschansky of Tipton and Toby and Marla Grosvenor of West Branch; five grandchildren, Skylar Grosvenor, Jessica and Ryan Grosvenor, Jamie and Eric Laschansky; two foster grandchildren, Chrissy and Ariyann; his siblings, Clifford and Connie Grosvenor of San Bernardino, Calif., Virginia and James Rysdam of Bloomfield, Pauline Osborne of Burlington, Ruth Enlow of Keota, Barbara and Sherwin Stellinga of Sioux Falls, S.D., Kathy McKinney of Burlington and Rhonda and Larry Richmond of Burlington; and a sister-in-law, Patricia Grosvenor of Coralville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Richard; two brothers, Paul and John; one sister, Marcia Selck; and his niece, Teresa Richmond.
