Letter: Monica Vernon for Cedar Rapids mayor

Vote for Monica Vernon for Cedar Rapids mayor on Nov. 7.

She is a good listener, a proven strategic planner, a seasoned community leader, a committed small business advocate and an authentic voice for our community. She has an extensive background of community service on many levels. She served on the Cedar Rapids City Council for eight years and served as mayor pro tem for six years,

Vernon is a straight shooter. She tells us what it is, why it is, how it is, and tells the truth. She was a Cedar Rapids 2008 flood spokesperson and worked her tail off trying to get a flood damaged city back 'in order” as soon as possible. She has run a low key campaign with TV ads that are clear and to the point and she will be a great Cedar Rapids mayor.

When I think of all that the City of Cedar Rapids has gone through since the 2008 Cedar River flood, I believe we were fortunate to have her on the City Council to help make critical decisions for recovery and rebuilding Cedar Rapids.
