Eileen J. Current, 78, of Tipton, died peacefully in her sleep on Monday, May 26, 2014, in Cedar Manor Nursing Home, Tipton. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 30, at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton, with the Rev. Ronald Lashmit officiating. Burial will follow in the Tipton Masonic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mike Goetz, Rob Rodriguez, Mark Rodriguez, Kevin McClure, Virgil Penrod and Cody Poppe. Honorary pallbearers will be Wade Engelkens and Jake Worden. Her family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the
funeral home.

Eileen Jane McCracken was born March 8, 1936, in Maquoketa, Iowa, the daughter of Ernest and Audrey Ripperton McCracken. She was a graduate of the Maquoketa High School. On Oct. 9, 1955, she was united in marriage to Roger Allen Current in Maquoketa.
Eileen was an accomplished piano player and enjoyed playing classical music. Eileen worked for many years at Crestridge Nursing Home in Maquoketa and following their move to Tipton, she worked in the bakery and deli for Family Foods in Tipton, until she retired in 2001, when she devoted her time to babysitting her grandchildren. She would often be seen driving her car with her dog acting as
copilot.
Eileen is survived by her daughter, Linda (Mrs. Mark) Weets of Lost Nation; her sons, David (Jo) Current of Lowden and Rodney (Saundra) Current of Tipton; her grandchildren, Kathryn Weets, Maureena Current, Shannon and Cody Poppe and D.J. Stolte; and her sister, Ernestine Rodriguez of
Cedar Rapids.
Eileen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roger on Nov. 1, 1993; her brother and sister-in-law, John "Blain" and Judy McCracken; and her brother-in-law, Roberto Rodriguez.
Eileen's family would like to thank the management and staff at Cedar Manor Nursing Home for their acts of kindness and level of care that was shown to their mother.
