Let's do something cool . . . the Brett Greenwood Foundation

I tried this last year for Camp Courageous and you all were fantastic.

We raised $1,700 and had some fun. Some of you are now owners of some extremely old and rare Iowa media guides and bowl media guides. Man, some of those were from the Evy era. I again thank you. You are tremendous!

Let's do it again.

This year, the auction will be for Brett Greenwood, the former Iowa safety whose heart stopped beating on the field at his old high school last summer as he tried to make his way into the NFL. Brett remains in rehab. His family started the Brett Greenwood Foundation (follow this link) to raise funds for this lengthy journey.

It was absolutely gut wrenching when this happened last fall. I followed the news from afar, from my son's football practice.

Brett's recovery is ongoing. Let's do our best to help.

The big news this summer is that The Gazette has agreed to match what's raised here up to $1,000. So hey, let's help them write that check!

I'm shooting for five good items this year. I have this poster (more below) and we'll see how it goes from there.

So, five items. They'll all be rolled out by the end of the week. All proceeds go to the Brett Greenwood Foundation, of course. Don't worry about mailing and delivery, we'll figure something out.

That said, here's item No. 1:

This is an Iowa seniors poster for the 2011. The theme is Green Lantern with the tagline "In Golden Day, In Blackest Night. Defenders of Kinnick."

This is signed by everyone in the poster from Marvin McNutt to Woody Orne to Joe Audlehelm to Todd Dunford. Todd Dunford? Yes, this also is signed by the four senior managers from last year's team.

Right now, nine of these seniors are in NFL camps.
