Poe-Rhinehart, Helen Elizabeth
Helen Elizabeth Poe-Rhinehart, 81, of Williamsburg, formerly of Brooklyn and Montezuma, passed away at the University of Iowa Surgical Intensive Care Unit on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009, after suffering a devastating stroke. She was both beautiful and peaceful in her passing. A Remembrance Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at Grace Methodist Church in Brooklyn.
Helen was born July 7, 1928, near Eddyville, to John Martin Gasper and Mary Isabelle (Durbala) Gasper. She married Pearl J. Poe on July 26, 1947, until his passing in 1997. Most of their married life was spent in Montezuma.
Helen married Clarence Edwin Rhinehart in 2000 and relocated to Brooklyn, where she became a favorite at the Grace Methodist Church, Red Hat Club and the Columbian Club. Helen will be remembered for her wit and charm.
She is survived by husband, Clarence; sister, Leona Glandon of Williamsburg; son, Carl (Deanna) of Kalona; daughter, Gayle (David) Lacasse of Meredith, N.H.; six grandchildren, BJ (Nikki) Poe of Montezuma, Jeramy Poe of Grinnell, Scott Patterson & family of Montezuma, Josh Lacasse of New York City, N.Y., Kyle and Riley Lacasse of Meredith, N.H.; several nieces and nephews; six stepchildren and spouses; and several stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Carl; and husband, Pearl.
