Balsanek, June Ruth

June Ruth Balsanek, 88, of Cedar Rapids, died at Linn Manor in Marion on Friday, Dec. 28, 2012. Services: 1 p. m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, by the Rev. Randall Vartabedian of Bible Baptist Church. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Survivors include her children, June (Gerald) Cunningham of Marion, Susanne (David) Brude of Harrison, Tenn., and William (Glenda) Balsanek Jr. of Van Horne; a sister, Dorothy Troutman of Upper Marlborough, Md.; grandchildren, Joshua Schuller, Angela Jones, Jacob Schuller, Jared Cunningham, Jenny Brude, Aaron Brude, Anna Balsanek, Amy Beazley and Andrew Balsanek; and great-grandchildren, Jasper and Madelyn Jones.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William; a sister, Glennola Shellabarger; and a grandson, Jesse Brude.

June was born Jan. 17, 1924, in Strawberry Point, to Glenn and Ida Beavers. She married William J. Balsanek Sr. in 1944. He died in 1960. She was a legal secretary for White and Stone. She then worked for Triangle Bandag as a bookkeeper.

June was a member of Kenwood Park Presbyterian Church and the American Business Women's Association. She was a Master Gardener and derived great pleasure nurturing her many flowers and vegetable garden.

A memorial fund has been established for Linn Manor at 1140 Elim Dr., Marion, IA 52302.
