Sandhagen, June
June Sandhagen, 90, of Manchester, died Monday, Jan. 16, 2012. Celebration of Life Service: 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20, First Lutheran Church, Manchester, with the Rev. Dr. Jean Rabary and the Rev. Alan Oman officiating. The family will greet friends one hour before the service at the church. Private family interment: Oakland Cemetery, Manchester.
She was born on June 12, 1921, in Prairie Township, rural Manchester, the daughter of Clarence and Mildred (Becker) Lyman. June was raised and educated in the area and graduated from Manchester High School in 1939. On May 19, 1946, June was united in marriage to Jim Sandhagen. They lived in Manchester. June taught country school in Prairie Township for nine years and later organized and operated the first preschool in Manchester.
June was a lifelong member of First Lutheran Church and was involved in many church activities. She treasured her family and friends and was a thoughtful and caring person. June enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading, traveling and going on picnics.
June is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Jane of Coralville; her son, Jerry and wife Sheila of Centennial, Colo.; two grandchildren, Cory and Megan Sandhagen of Centennial, Colo.; her sister, Gayle Lyman of Iowa City; sisters-in-law, Delva Sandhagen of Strawberry Point, and Faith Sandhagen of Lamont; and nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Judy in 1955; and her husband, Jim in 1994.
