June L. McAdams, 90, of Cedar Rapids, died April 5, 2016, at The Woodlands at The Meth-Wick Community following a long illness. Services will be held at a later date in Illinois. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
June is survived by her son, William (Julia Kay) McAdams of Swisher; two grandsons, Ryan McAdams of Marion and Barry McAdams of Coralville; and one niece, Loretta Vojteck of Bristol, Wis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. McAdams; and daughter, Bonnie Zich.
June Lucille was born Aug. 18, 1925, in Chicago, the daughter of William and Ida Fraser Coldwater. She was a graduate of Englewood High School. After high school, she worked for Meters and Controls Inc. as a secretary. June married Robert William McAdams on June 14, 1951, in Chicago. June spent the majority of her working years as a homemaker for her children and husband. She later was employed as a secretary for Universal Silencers and then Stoddard Silencers, retiring in 1995.
June always was very active in a variety of ways, including PTA and PTSA, while her children were in school, Farm Bureau, and from 1997 to 1998, she was treasurer of Seniors and Law Together (SALT) with the Round Lake Police Department.
June enjoyed reading, music, art, traveling and attending both of her grandsons' football and soccer games.
She was a hard worker and never gave up.
June always remembered her good friends from her neighborhood on Sue Lane, her co-workers from Stoddard Silencers in Grayslake, Ill., and enjoyed the friendships she made with her many dedicated caretakers at The Meth-Wick Community.
