Lynch, John 'Jay'
John “Jay” Lynch, 51, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, May 2, 2013, after a short battle with renal cancer. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 8, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Lisa Lynch; his son, Kyle (Alyce) Lynch of Kewaunee, Wis.; his parents, Eugene and Lillian Lynch; a brother, Mike (Diane) Lynch of Palo; two sisters, Ginny (Mike) Uhlenkamp of Breda, Iowa and Linda Lynch of Cedar Rapids; his mother-in-law, Janet (Donald) McBain Jr. of Marion; brothers-in-law, Paul Gorman of Phoenix, Ariz., and Kevin (Melinda) Gorman of Boone; a sister-in-law, Anne (Jim) Weaver of Pryor, Okla.; brother-in-law, David (Terry) Gorman of Marion; a sister-in-law, Caroline (Todd) McNall of Cedar Rapids; and a brother-in-law, Donald (Rhonda) McBain III of Mount Horeb, Wis. Also surviving are 22 nieces and nephews, seven great-nieces and great-nephews and a soon to be grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Richard Gorman.
Jay was born Dec. 6, 1961, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Eugene and Lillian Lynch. He married Lisa Gorman on Sept. 27, 1986, in Cedar Rapids. Jay was a welder/assembler for Johnson Gas and Appliance Co. in Cedar Rapids and a 1980 graduate of LaSalle High School.
He enjoyed his yearly trips to the Indianapolis 500 and summer trips to Chetek in Wisconsin. Jay was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, Oakland Raiders and Hawkeye football. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and hanging with his friends at the Green Gable Inn.
Jay was a loving son, father, brother, uncle and friend and will be greatly missed by all.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors and nurses of St. Luke's Hospital and PCI for the loving care they gave to Jay.
