Greer, Reese
Reese Greer, 83, of rural Iowa City, went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Good News Bible Church in Iowa City. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Gay & Ciha Funeral Service in Iowa City.
Memorial donations can be made in Reese's memory to Good News Bible Church or the Reese Greer Memorial Fund.

Reese Franklin Greer was born Sept. 5, 1926, in rural Johnson County, the son of Roy and Margaret (Tranter) Greer. He graduated from City High School in Iowa City in 1945. On Oct. 16, 1954, Reese married Diana Meardon in Iowa City. For most of his life he had been involved in farming in this area. He worked as a machinist in Iowa City and then worked as a stationary boiler engineer at the Oakdale Medical Classification Center for over 25 years before retiring. His wife, Diana, died March 23, 1999. He later married Joanne Brant on May 8, 2003.
He was a member of Good News Bible Church, having served on the board of elders for 25 years. He was a member of Johnson County Farm Bureau, National Turkey Federation, as well as several camping clubs for a number of years. Some of his life's enjoyments were his livestock, his dogs, especially Barron and Antrim, he loved camping and traveling, and he dearly loved his grandchildren.
His family includes his wife, Joanne; his two children and their families: daughter, Lisa and David Tomash, and their children, Mikala, Austin and Jesse; son, Dana and Maureen Greer, and their children, Reese, Grace, MaryClare, Paul, Magdalene and Mollie; sister, Delores Jeter; Joanne's children, Dianna Brack, Sandy Tomas and Annette Mossman; daughter-in-law, Dawn Brant; and seven stepgrandchildren.
Reese was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Diana; and his stepson-in-law, Larry Brant.
