Glasford, Phyllis H.
Phyllis H. Glasford, 78, of Cedar Rapids died Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital following a brief illness. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Inurnment will be held in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Allan; daughter, Teri Glasford-Doraby (Michael) of Ballston Spa, N.Y.; son, Jay Glasford (Jinnine) of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, James (Kathleen) Macarevey, Erin (Kevin) Macarevey, Scot (Amy) Glasford and Whitney (Brandon) Dalecky; sister-in-law, Susan Ricks of Bath, N.Y.; and a future great-granddaughter's expected birth in March.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, brother and sister-in-law.
Phyllis Helen Witters was born Nov. r 7, 1931, in Gouverneur, N.Y., the daughter of Raymond and Hazel (Hilts) Witters. She married Allan J. Glasford on Dec. 19, 1949, in Gouverneur, N.Y. She was very supportive of Allan during his college years, his first job and family moves around the country. They just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2009.
Phyllis was a homemaker, had a quick wit about her, had a great sense of humor, enjoyed puzzles and was a bridge enthusiast. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, best friend and will be greatly missed by all.
