Geneva Pauline Gilmore, 96, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, June 20, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center. A visitation will be held Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m., and a service at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at Alliance Church by the Rev. Todd Hart. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include her sons, Jack (Judy) Gilmore of Iowa City, Iowa, Dan (Patty) Gilmore of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Richard (Jean) Gilmore of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Jerry (Jane) Marks, Todd (Lorrie) Marks, Kim (Steve) Bell, Kelly McIntyre, Adrian (Rebecca) Gilmore, Tracy Gilmore (Rich Timbol), Carly Gilmore, Brad Shanklin and Leah Gilmore; great-grandchildren, Melinda Garza, Raquel Garza, Abdul Raheem Ali aka William (Shukri) Skeleton, Jordan Marks, James McIntyre, Patrick McIntyre, Taylor Marks and Christian Marks; a great-great-grandchild, Maysoon Skeleton; and her beloved cat, Romeo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lee J. Gilmore; and siblings, Verona Walker, Mark Dotson, Bert Dotson, Kenneth Dotson, Cleo Dotson, Ted Dotson, Boyd Dotson and Homer Dotson.
Geneva was born March 15, 1919, in Morning Sun, Iowa, the daughter of Oscar and Edith (Baxter) Dotson. She married Lee J. Gilmore on Jan. 3, 1941, in Kahoka, Mo. Geneva was a recent resident of Prairie Hills retirement home and a member of Alliance Church. She enjoyed gardening, cards, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and bingo.
