Landis, Mary Ellen
Mary Ellen Landis, 70, who battled C.O.P.D. went to be with her loving husband of 50 years, Dick. She died Sunday, April 25, 2010, at the Manchester Regional Hospital, Manchester. She was born March 28, 1940, to Clarence and Lucille Ohl of Strawberry Point. She attended Strawberry Point School and was united in marriage Oct. 27, 1957, to Richard (Dick) Landis. To this union was born three children, Rick, Ron and Brenda.
Mary and Dick ran family owned, Strawberry Upholstery for over 35 years. All the while enjoying their life in Strawberry Point and wintering in Zephyrhills, Fla. She loved traveling with Dick, usually on the back of their motorcycle. Sewing, camping and time on the computer were also things she enjoyed.
Mary was the rock in Dick's life for over 50 years. Together they held the rank of directors of the Florida Gold Wing Association. She was the anchor for Strawberry Upholstery; the loving heart to her children, relatives and many friends.
Mary is survived by her children, Rick of Strawberry Point, Ron of Dayton, and Brenda of Strawberry Point; a brother, Ed (Barb) Ohl of Central City; and sisters, Sharon (Dave) Streicher of Casa Granda, Ariz., Jean (Clarence) MacTaggart of Rochelle, Ill., and Maxine (Henry) Johnson of Strawberry Point.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Lucille Ohl; and husband, Dick Landis.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Roberson Funeral Chapel in Strawberry Point, with the Rev. Ron Blix officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Scattering of the ashes will be at a later date.
