Martz resigns at West

IOWA CITY - Brian Martz has resigned as boys' track and field coach at Iowa City West.

Martz led the Trojans to Class 4A state championships in 2007 and 2012. West was a runner-up three times during his 12 years, and won eight Mississippi Valley Conference divisional titles.

'We are sad to see Brian step away from this position,” said West athletics director Scott Kibby. 'He has had tremendous success. While his accomplishments are certainly a measure of his success, he has been a tremendous educator for our young men having high expectations for our students in the classroom and behaviorally while having wonderful rapport as well.”

Martz will continue as West's boys country coach.
