LaFrentz, Geraldine

Geraldine LaFrentz, 88, of Marion, died Saturday, May 7, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Memorial service: 11 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2011, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, Iowa, by Vicki Standley. The family will greet friends one hour before the service. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion, Iowa.

Survivors include her children, Tina (Mike) McCormick of Omaha, Neb.; Donette (Mike) Cobb of Dallas, Texas; Peter (Beth) LaFrentz of Dysart; Linda Randall of Hobbs, N.M.; and Nancy (Art) Kirkwood of Garland, Texas; and one brother, Bob Mathewson of Seattle, Wash. Also surviving are numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and numerous brothers and sisters.

Geraldine was born December 3, 1922, the daughter of Lev and Jessie (Bobbitt) Mathewson, in Momence, Ill. She married Arthur LaFrentz on December 3, 1943 in Victoria, Texas. He died March 22, 1999. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Marion.
