DeLaMater, Darold E.
Darold E. DeLaMater, 77, of Olin, died Saturday, May 1, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. A celebration of his life service will be held Wednesday, May 5, at 10 a.m. at Lahey Funeral Home in Olin, with Pastor Pat Slater officiating. Burial will be in Lost Nation Cemetery, Lost Nation. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Darold Earl DeLaMater was born April 19, 1933, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Harold and Hazel (Mulinix) DeLaMater. He married Sandra Mohr on Aug. 24, 1974, in Cedar Rapids. She died in 1985. He was a machinist at Universal Engineering in Cedar Rapids for 30 years.
He enjoyed racing stock cars and motorcycles and could work on anything. He loved his dogs and spoiling his grandkids.
He is survived by six children, Bobbi DeLaMater of Des Moines, Michael (Maria) DeLaMater, Debra Brokaw and Tami (Joe) Cerruto, all of Cedar Rapids, Timi DeLaMater of Austin, Minn., and La Mista (Gabe) Watters of Olin; two stepsons, Alex (Mary) Wenndt and Andy (Karen) Wenndt, of Cedar Rapids; 20 grandchildren; and one brother, Harold DeLaMater Jr. of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and a daughter, Cindy Dyer in 1996.
Memorials are preferred.
