Crawley, Leo
Leo Crawley, 87, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Services: 1 p.m. Friday, May 18, at Immanuel Baptist Church, Cedar Rapids, by Pastor Dan Wiersama. Family will greet friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Military Honors will be provided. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn of Cedar Rapids; children, Mary Crawley of Dallas, and James (Regli) Crawley Sr. of Waterloo; grandchildren, James Jr., Samantha, Chuck and Carolyn; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joseph “JB” Crawley; and two sisters, Addie Mae Ward and Ina Belle Beloso.
Born Jan. 8, 1925, in Bassfield, Miss., he was the son of Edd and Etta (McNeese) Crawley. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. On Dec. 26, 1953, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Immel in Waterloo, Iowa. For 33½ years he was an electric truck driver for Rath Packing Co. He then worked in security.
Leo was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church where he was a retired deacon and a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing and playing softball, which he did until the age of 70.
