Evelyn M. (Schutterle) Kramer, 87, died Friday, Jan. 27, 2017, at Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Luzerne, with the Rev. Dean Duncan officiating. Interment will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Luzerne. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 3 to 6 p.m., also at the church.
A memorial fund has been established.
Phillips Funeral Home, Blairstown, is in charge of arrangements.
Evelyn was born on the family farm near Watkins on Dec. 10, 1929, to Jacob and Frieda (Griess) Schutterle. Evelyn graduated from Blairstown High School and was united in marriage to Dean A. Kramer on March 19, 1950, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Luzerne. Dean preceded her in death on Feb. 26, 2007.
Evelyn was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Luzerne. She enjoyed baking, gardening and canning. Evelyn and her husband worked side-by-side on the farm, driving the tractor and helping her husband in the field.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Connie Ternes (Jim) and Julie Kramer (Bruce); her grandchildren, Heather Hamann (Rob), Brad Hamann (Joy), Eric Hamann (Jen), Jaime Townsend (Cory) and Jen Ternes (Eric); her great-grandchildren, Aiden, Cole, Camden, Sydney, Gavin, Gage, Jayla and Jax; her
sisters-in-law, Jean Schutterle and Marcia Crapo; and her brother-in-law, Henry Mantz.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dean; her brothers, Leroy and Charles Schutterle; her stepbrothers and sister.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha, and Trinity Lutheran Church and Evergreen Estates in Cedar Rapids.
