Leggett, Stuart F.
Stuart F. Leggett, 87, of Monticello, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at Jones Regional Medical Center in Anamosa after a sudden illness. Private services will be held Monday, Dec. 31, at Kramer Funeral Home in Monticello, with burial in Oakwood Cemetery.
Stuart Leggett was born March 24, 1925, in Scotch Grove, Iowa, the son of William and Clara (Townsend) Leggett. He was educated at the Timber School in Scotch Grove and began farming with horses. He continued farming the rest of his life northeast of Scotch Grove and trucked livestock, lime and rock for many years until moving to Monticello in 2003. He married Frances Pritchard on July 19, 1944, at the Anamosa Methodist Church. Together they celebrated 68 years of marriage.
In his later years he enjoyed fishing and watching wrestling.
Stuart is survived by his wife, Frances; his three children, Douglas (Jackie) Leggett of West Branch, Dixie Weber of Monticello and Barb (Denis) Paulson of Anamosa; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a sister, Fern Borschel in 2000; and a brother, Dwight in 1931.
