Irene Della Bontty, 97, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016, at The Meth-Wick Com-munity/Woodlands following a short illness. Celebration of Life services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, at Brosh Chapel in
Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. Burial will be at Czech National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids.
Irene was born Dec. 29, 1918, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Frank and Della Plucar. She attended high school in Reed City, Mich., and then Cedar Rapids Business College. She married Edmund Z. Bontty on Aug. 2, 1939, in Cedar Rapids. She enjoyed working and living on the farm and was proud that it was a Century Farm.
She enjoyed gardening, cooking and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the highlight of her life.
Irene was a member of Eastern Star Fidelatis Lodge 364 in Fairfax and was very active in the Farm Bureau.
Irene is survived by her children, Kenneth (Shelia) Bontty of Norway and Justina (Tom) Dunlap of Portland, Ore.; grandchildren, Brad (Laura) Bontty of St. Louis, Mo., and Craig (Lynnelle) Bontty of Fairfax; and great-grandchildren, Gavin, Jackson, Austin, Oscar and Adelyn Bontty and Alek Bracy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edmund; and sister, Esther Cerveny.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Stuart wing at Meth-Wick and Hospice of Mercy for their kind and compassionate care of Irene over the past few years.
Memorials may be directed to Camp Courageous or El Kahir Crippled Children's Transportation Fund.
