Everett M. Lunning,
96, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016, surrounded by his family at the Woodlands of the Meth-Wick Community. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Ev is survived by his children, Everett Jr. (Deloise Vasquez), Lissa Lunning Dodington and Susan Lunning (Serge Castigliano); four grandchildren, Caroline and Lydia Lunning, Edward (Jessica) and James (Lauren) Dodington; his stepgreat-granddaughter, Soledad; great-granddaughters, Elsa and Harriet; his brother, Al Lunning; and sisters, Virginia Clausen and Marilyn Thompson.
Ev was born on Dec. 9, 1919, the son of Clarence Otto and Anna Anderson Lunning in Radcliffe, Iowa. He married Ann Paynter Hill on Feb. 3, 1944, in Sioux City. He served his country in World War II as a "hump" pilot, flying C-54s on the India-China Supply Route. He was an entrepreneur and successful business man at Thermogas Co., Cedar Rapids; Q-Cue Inc, Elizabeth, Ill.; CM Corp., Sioux City; and Galena Manufacturing Co., Galena, Ill. He enjoyed sharing his love of the outdoors on hunting and fishing trips with family and friends throughout the Midwest and Canada.
Ev is remembered by all as a kind, generous man who was a caring and loving brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather and friend. He will be greatly missed and remembered always.
