Krizan, Malinda Gay
Malinda Gay Krizan, 90, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Oct. 24, 2011, at The Woodlands at The Meth-Wick Community. Services: 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, by the Rev. Bob David of First Congregational Church. Interment: Oak Hill Cemetery, Lansing. A visitation will be held at the chapel after 8:30 a.m.
Survivors include her husband, Harold; sons, Dennis Krizan of Leawood, Kan., Ken Krizan of Coralville, Timothy Krizan of Tyler, Texas, Daniel Krizan of Astoria, Ore., and Kim Krizan of Hideaway, Texas; sister, Norma Ruggles of San Dimas, Calif.; brother, Jim Lawton of Panorama City, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, JoAnn.
Malinda was born July 31, 1921, in Alden, to Eugene and Eva Lawton. She graduated from the University of Iowa with a nursing degree.
She was a member of First Congregational Church, the Mayflower Circle, Church Women United, Christian Women's Club, “Sonshine” Bible Study, “Joy” Religious Book Study Group, Optimist Club, United Nations Association, and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Malinda volunteered at St. Luke's Hospital, Seminole Valley Farm and Village, and Brucemore.
Memorials may be directed to St. Luke's Hospice.
The family would like to especially thank the staff at The Meth-Wick Community for the compassionate care for Malinda.
