Kuriger, Roger E.
Roger E. Kuriger, 92, of The Meth-Wick Community, Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2010, in St. Luke's Hospital. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Burial: Private at Elmwood Cemetery in Waterloo. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Charlotte; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters, Lois Scott, Marie Murphy and Barbara Giovannini.
Roger was born Oct. 20, 1917, in Waterloo, the son of William and Margaret Holmes Kuriger. He married Charlotte Goswiller on July 3, 1942, in Waterloo. Roger worked for Crandic for over 30 years, retiring in 1983. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for over 50 years, serving as an usher, various committees and trustee board. He was also a member of the American Legion Hanford Post No. 5. He served in the Army and Air Force from December 1942 until February 1946 in Germany and the Philippines. He was an avid bowler and league secretary for over 25 years and loved to golf.
