Samek, Clara E.
Clara E. Samek, 93, of the Meth-Wick Community died there Monday Oct. 4, 2010. Services at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. The Rev. Bob Voels will officiate. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. today.
Survivors include a son, Howard (Karen) of Bloomingdale, Ill.; a sister, Ella Samek of Cedar Rapids; grandson, Air Force Captain Joe Samek stationed in Dayton, Ohio; and a granddaughter, Jen Samek of Bloomington, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Clara was born on July 16, 1917, in Hawkeye, the daughter of Joseph and Emma Ludvicek Jansa. She married Paul H. Samek on Nov. 20, 1945, in Cedar Rapids. He died in 2005. Clara was a homemaker. She was a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she was very active and also enjoyed traveling with her husband.
Memorial donations may be given to the Meth-Wick Community, Trinity United Methodist Church or the Czech-Slovak Museum in Clara's name.
