Blanchard, Gladys I.
MAQUOKETA - Gladys I. Blanchard, 86, of Maquoketa, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010, at Clover Ridge, Maquoketa. A celebration of her life will be held Friday, Sept. 17, at 11 a.m. at Lahey Funeral Home in Maquoketa. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa.
Gladys Irene Heeren was born Oct. 12, 1923, in Sand Springs, Iowa, the daughter of John A. and Lucille (Lang) Heeren. She graduated from Onslow High School, Onslow. She was manager at Andrew Jackson Care from 1972 to 1974 and worked in food service at Jackson County Public Hospital in Maquoketa for 15 years.
Gladys enjoyed crocheting, gardening, crossword puzzles, baking and making angel food cakes.
She is survived by five children, Carolyn (James) Regenwether of Maquoketa, Helen Pearce of Cedar Falls, LuAnn (Ken) Wagner of Maquoketa, Robert Blanchard Jr. and James Blanchard; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Paul (Helma) Heeren of Anamosa and Kenneth (Joanne) Heeren of Lansing.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Edna Schnoor; and one grandson.
Memorials are preferred.
