Jackson, Viola

Viola Jackson, 92, of Clutier, died peacefully Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010, at Prairie Senior Cottages, Willmar, Minn., where she resided for the last 5 1/2 years. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 10, at the Clutier Community Church with Pastor James Perry officiating. Interment will follow at Oneida Cemetery, rural Clutier. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Kruse-Phillips Clutier Chapel.

Viola was born on Sept. 25, 1918, in Irving, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Emma (Upah) Krafka.In 1936, after graduating from Pitzi's School of Cosmetology, she opened Vi's Beauty Shop in Clutier where she was owner operator until she married Dale Jackson while he was serving in the Army. They were married July 15, 1942 in Rossville, Ga. After the war, they returned to Clutier and lived on the family farm.

She was the best Mom you could ask for and loved her family. She enjoyed quilting, gardening and life on the farm. She was a member of the Clutier Community Church, taught Sunday school for many years and was active in the Ladies Aid.

Thanks to the “family” at Prairie Senior Cottage for the wonderful care she was given. Also, a special thanks to her faithful and fun loving friend of 75 years, Lois Linville who has always been there for her. Thanks to Alan and Kristi Sienknecht who have taken such good care of the farm she loved and always missed.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Dale; and one sister, Evelyn Emmert.

Survived by daughters, Linda (Paul) Taber of Bloomington, Minn. and Nancy (John) Houlahan of Willmar, Minn.; grandchildren, Carrie Smith, Doug (Angie) Houlahan and Anne (Nathan) Towslee; great-grandchildren, Stephanie and Kelsey Evans, Evan Smith and Lauren, Brady and Ryan Houlahan;brothers, Warren “Bud” Krafka of Mason City, and Darrell (LaVonne) Krafka of Elberon; and nieces and nephews.

A memorial fund has been established.
