LELAND R. STEIN

Leland R. Stein, 72, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Jan. 17, 2017, at the Iowa City VA Health Care System.
Leland was born in Belle Plaine on Dec. 29, 1944, to Sidney and Ellen (Christianson) Stein. He graduated from Traer-Clutier High School in 1964 and was drafted into the U.S. Army. He served his country for two years pulling two tours in Vietnam. Upon his return, he went to work as a meat inspector with Wilson Foods for over 20 years.
Leland was an avid bowler for decades and won many titles and awards.
He is survived by his nephew, Joe (Janice) Zumbrunnen.
Leland was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ina Mae Zumbrunnen; and brother, Allen Stein.
There will be a private family burial with military honors in Dysart Cemetery in Dysart.
