Noah, Paul R.
Paul R. Noah, 83, of Iowa City, died peacefully Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at Mercy Iowa City following a long illness. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 22, at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Ave., Iowa City. The family will greet friends from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to The Paul Noah Memorial Fund.
Paul was born Sept., 17, 1929, in Peck, Kan., the son of Fay and Edna (Gore) Noah. He graduated from Victor High School in Victor, Iowa and later attended The University of Iowa. Following college, Paul served four years in the United States Navy. On Dec. 18, 1954, he was united in marriage to Dolores Johnson. For over 30 years, Paul worked as a switchman for The Rock Island Railroad, retiring in 1991.
In his spare time, Paul spent the better of 25 years traveling with Dolores to the Yellowstone National Park and the western parts of the United States and was especially fond of their time spent in Utah. He also played the saxophone in The University of Iowa Hawkeye Marching Band during college, and continued to play for various groups even throughout his retirement.
Survivors include his two sons, Kevin (Erin) Noah of Cedar Rapids and Keith Noah of Iowa City; and a brother-in-law, Harold Johnson of Iowa City.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dolores; a sister, Maxine McBride; and brothers-in-law, Glen McBride and Ronald Johnson.
