Brawner, Dolores D.
Dolores D. Brawner, 83, of Shellsburg, died in her home Monday May 21, 2012. She made her home the last few years with her daughter, Theresa and son-in-law Doug. There will be a Celebration of Life Service at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids at 1 p.m. Friday, May 25, conducted by the Rev. William B. Harnish. Private graveside service at Shiloh Cemetery, Hiawatha, at later date.
She is survived by her son, Marvin Butteris (Maureen) of Sunrise Beach, Mo.; her daughter, Cathy Dlouhy (Doug) of Cedar Rapids, and her daughter, Theresa Plowman (Doug) of Shellsburg; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson, Bohdan Visek.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Katie; stepfather, Bill Wharton; her father, Frank Diehl; her son, Kenneth “Ace” Butteris; her brother, John Diehl; and granddaughter, Kim Shoesmith.
Also preceded in death by her close friend, Edna Plowman Odeen; and her beloved dog, Precious.
Dolores volunteered at St Luke's Hospital and was a home health aide for Mercy Home Health Care. She loved country music and dancing with her friends, taking the time to walk in her flower garden and most of all, spending time with her family, cat and dog. She also enjoyed spending time visiting with her friends and writing to her many pen pals.
