Kurth, Orlin J. 'Oscar'
Orlin J. “Oscar” Kurth, 87, of Marengo, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at Rose Haven Nursing Home, Marengo. Graveside Services: 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, Marengo Cemetery, with the Rev. James Dotson officiating. The family will greet friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo.
Orlin is survived by three brothers, William Kurth (Doris) of Marengo, Lyle Kurth (Carol) of Robins, and Robert Kurth (Sylvia) of Riverside, Calif.; and two sisters, Naomi Krakow (Elmer) and Dorothy Krakow (George), all of Marengo; along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Maxine Slaymaker; and a brother-in-law, Gerald Slaymaker.
Orlin Junior “Oscar” Kurth was born April 18, 1925, in Marengo, Iowa, the son of Verna William Kurth and Florence Kanke Kurth. He attended the Marengo schools. Oscar was employed with various businesses over the years, including Solar Homes and Ratzel Furniture in Marengo. He had also worked for the Marengo Cemetery.
