Lorna A. Negus, 93, of Iowa City, died peacefully Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016, at Crestview Care Center surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at First Presbyterian Church in Iowa City, with the Rev. Sam Massey officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First Presbyterian Church, Iowa City Hospice or Friends of the Animal Center Foundation.
Lorna was born in North Liberty, Iowa, on Sept. 2, 1923, the daughter of Earl Ross Anderson and Marguerite I. Miller. She was a graduate of Iowa City City High School and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. Lorna married Lewis H. Negus on May 15, 1949, in Iowa City.
She was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church, where she served as a deacon and an elder.
Lorna was a dedicated homemaker and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
The family extends their appreciation to the staff at Crestview Care Center and Care Initiative Hospice for their loving care.
Lorna is survived by her four children, Marc Negus (Shirl) of Tucson, Ariz., Gordon Negus of Foristell, Mo., Laurie Kriz (Tom) of Grand Marais, Minn., and Theodore Negus of Iowa City; eight grandchildren, Jefferson, Jeremy, Sammy, Andy, Tim, Brett, Taylor and Donnie; two stepgrandchildren, George and Tom Watkins; her twin sister, Loretta Patterson of Iowa City; sister-in-law, Marie Anderson of Richardson, Texas; eight great-grandchildren; and six stepgreat- grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lewis; their son, Michael; brothers, Joseph and John Anderson; and sisters, Joyce and Portia.
