By Evelyn Peter: On the morning of 9/11, I had just returned from a walk when my oldest son, John, called from Jakarta, Indonesia, to let me know of the birth of his daughter. The television was on, and as he was telling me the good news, I was catching bits of the report of the first airplane hitting the tower. I told him something unbelievable was happening and turned up the volume. He was stunned to hear what I was telling him. My joy of a new grandchild was mixed with sorrow as the facts of the attack unfolded.
