Briggs, Carroll T.
Carroll T. Briggs, 95, of 3125 First Ave. SW, died Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010, at West Ridge Care Center after a brief illness. Private family services will be held on Wednesday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Per Carroll's request there will be no public visitation. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia; two sons, Dr. Dennis (Carol) of Muscadine, Ala., and Dr. Terrence (Kathy) of Marshalltown. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Sean, Dr. Chad (Tracy), John (Megan) and David (Melissa) Briggs, Sarah (Chris) Trosper and Susan (B.J.) Huss; and six great-grandchildren, Abigail, John and Katherine Trosper, Anna and Lucy Huss and Jacob Briggs.
Carroll was born on Dec. 30, 1914, in Lockridge, the son of Fred and Maysel Stewart Briggs. He married Virginia M. Mohler on Aug. 1, 1938, in Anamosa. Carroll was a purchasing manager at F.M.C. for 39 years, retiring in 1980. He was a member of Olivet Presbyterian Church, Independent order of Odd Fellows and past-president of the Noon Lions Club. Carroll enjoyed fishing and especially time spent with his friends and beloved family.
Memorial donations may be given to Olivet Presbyterian Church or to the Cedar Rapids Noon Lions Club.
