Mohler, Mary Katherine

Mary Katherine Mohler, 94, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of West Burlington, died Saturday, June 15, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.

Born Jan. 15, 1919, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Carl H. and Inez (Maxwell) Brehm. On June 14, 1939, she married Richard Mohler in Burlington. He preceded her in death on Oct. 25, 1987. Mrs. Mohler was a homemaker. She had worked for Lincolnville Café and was a well-known day care provider for many years in the West Burlington area.

She was a member of St. Mary & Patrick Catholic Church, where she served with the Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed playing and calling Bingo and was famous for her anise cookies.

She is survived by her two sons, Dan (Laina) Mohler of Hiawatha and Gary Mohler of Burlington; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one sister, Dorothy Parish of Pittsburg, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Richard.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, at Lunning Chapel in Burlington. Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Mohler will be 10 a.m. Thursday, June 20, at St. Mary & Patrick Catholic Church in West Burlington, with the Rev. David Steinle as celebrant. Interment will be at St. Mary Cemetery.

A memorial has been established in Mary's memory.
