Mary Diane Lovetinsky of The Woodlands, Texas, passed away May 7, 2015, after a six-year courageous battle against kidney cancer.
She was born in Miami, Fla., on Dec. 3, 1947, and
grew up in Iowa City, Iowa. Diane is a 1966 graduate of Regina High School in Iowa City, where she met Gary Lovetinsky.
Diane and Gary were married Aug. 30, 1969, moved to Texas in 1970, and celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary this past August with their family.
Diane was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
After moving from Nederland, Texas, in 2004 to The Woodlands, she became an active daily volunteer for the Montgomery County Animal Shelter. She was a board member of Friends of Montgomery County, Texas, Animal Shelter non-profit organization (FMCTAS) since its inception in 2007 where she was recognized for her untiring volunteer work with animals that needed medical attention.
Diane was a true family woman. She enjoyed genealogy and learning about her family's history. She also absolutely adored her children and grandchildren and loved having family pictures taken of them.
She had remarkable talent for quilting and looked forward to each annual quilting retreat with her sister, Margaret. She loved the holidays and always went to great lengths to beautifully decorate her home.
She is survived by her husband, Gary Lovetinsky; sons, Jeffrey Lovetinsky and his spouse, Gene Gregg, of Phoenix, Ariz., Kyle Lovetinsky and his spouse, Amy, of Missouri City, Texas, and Brian Lovetinsky and his spouse, Nicki, of Spring, Texas; daughter, Katie Wright and her spouse, Derek, of The Woodlands, Texas; nine granddaughters, Johnna, Grace, Sarah, Avery, Aniston, Mackenzie, Hanna, Haley and Alyssa; her sisters, Linda Ketchum of Coral Gables, Fla., and Margaret Jones of Corpus Christi, Texas; and her brothers, Terry Jones and his wife, Paulette, of Bradenton, Fla., and Mark Jones and his wife, Helen, of Adelaide, South Australia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Terry and Dorothy Jones.
Funeral arrangements will be as follows – Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 11, with rosary beginning at 7 p.m., at Forest Park-The Woodlands, 18000 Interstate 45 S, The Woodlands, TX 77384. Funeral Mass: 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 7801 Bay Branch Dr., The Woodlands, TX 77382, followed by reception at church hall. Burial after reception: Forest Park-The Woodlands Cemetery.
