Gallegos, Sara
Sara Gallegos, 71, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, June 4, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital following a brief illness. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 11, at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel, where a vigil service will be held at 7 p.m.
Survivors include her children, Anthony Vargas of Independence, Celia Smith (Dave) of Cedar Rapids and Kelly Faulkner of Independence; sister, Delores Depa of Florida; brothers, Ray Yzaguirre (Sharon), Emilio Yzaguirre and Bud Ysaguirre (Judy) all of Illinois. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Michael, Veronica and Victoria Vargas, Aaron and Jonathon Faulkner and Amanda Smith and Alicyn Kane.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Rebecca Villarreal.
Sara Yzaguirre was born Sept. 27, 1938, in San Benito, Texas, the daughter of Baltazar and Josefine Yzaguirre. She was a homemaker before retiring. Sara moved to Cedar Rapids in August 2006. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family.
She will be greatly missed by all who loved her and knew her.
