Welcome home made Honor Flight special

I was privileged to be a part of the Eastern Iowa Honor Flight on April 22 as I served as a guardian for my father, a Korean War veteran.
My father and I would like to thank Eastern Iowa supporters for their overwhelming 'Welcome Home” celebration the veterans received upon returning to the Cedar Rapids airport.
The trip to Washington, D.C., to visit war memorials was very special and quite often individuals would approach the veterans to shake their hands and offer them thanks for serving our country. But nothing could ever compare to the throng of wonderful people waiting for us in Cedar Rapids when we arrived home.
It was amazing to witness lines of people standing to cheer these veterans as they walked off the plane. My father and I were filled with emotion and gratitude.
Thank you Eastern Iowa for your dedicated support of all veterans. We are proud to call this community our home.
