Andrle, Farrell 'Verlee'
Farrell “Verlee” Andrle, 92, of Ely, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011, at Northbrook Manor Care Center in Cedar Rapids.
Verlee was born July 11, 1918, the daughter of John and Beatrice (Thompson) Trimble. She married Milo Andrle on Aug. 27, 1940. She attended Iowa State Teachers College after graduating from high school. Verlee taught in rural Toddville and then Honey Grove School near Ely, where she met Milo. She then taught at Hardshell and Jappa schools near Ely. After raising a family, she attended Mount Mercy and Coe colleges and then taught for one-and-a-half years at St. Patrick's and for six years at All Saints, both in Cedar Rapids.
Verlee is survived by three sons, John (Helendale, deceased) Andrle of St. Louis, Mo. Bob (Carol) Andrle of Ely and Michael Andrle of Des Moines; seven grandchildren, John Dale (Julia) Andrle, Rene' (Scott) Tedrow, Craig (Becky) Andrle, Marna (Joel) Schutte, Marci (Matt) Whitaker, Clint (Kerrin) Andrle and Luke Andrle; and 15 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Lorraine Trimble of Marion. She was an aunt, cousin, sister-in-law, and friend to many. She will be missed by all.
Verlee was a member of Rebekahs in Ely, Friendship Club of Ely, and Johannas at Ely Presbyterian Church, where she was a member. She enjoyed playing pinochle, doing china painting, and playing the piano. She was known for her home-baked kolaches and cream puffs and all around good cooking.
Verlee was preceded in death by her husband, Milo “Mike” who died April 17, 2001; and daughter-in-law, Helendale, who died Dec. 19, 2010.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, at First Presbyterian Church near Ely, with burial to follow in Rogers Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW.
