Frustration over no Social Security COLA
N/A
Oct. 20, 2010 2:06 pm
It is very frustrating to hear that there will be no increase for a cost of living in Social Security benefits next year. Although the Obama administration can't be blamed for this, they can be held responsible if they don't do something about it.
There are many rules and regulations on the books that automatically go into effect every year. If there is a crisis, things have been done in the past to correct them or do away with them so the crisis can be averted.
Everything goes up except Social Security payments, so we automatically lose money and security.
The definition of security includes safeguard, protection, guarantee, assurance.
Congress, both Democrats and the GOP, need to do something about this injustice now. If nothing is done, I suggest seniors elect into office representatives who will actually represent us. Ask them at every level about their stance on this issue.
If we seniors don't have the ability to spend money on items we need because of no increase, I believe this directly affects the economy.
