To the editor:
In the sport of fishing, the best fishermen, who catch the biggest and most fish, know which lures the fish are biting on. They study the fish and use many real and fake lures. They travel to different parts of the country, testing which lures work the best on certain fish.
When they become skilled enough at casting the right bait, they enter tournaments. Usually, the best prepared fisherman earns the trophy.
There is a huge fishing tournament (election) on the first Tuesday in November 2016. There are more fishermen (candidates) entered in this tournament than ever before in history. They have been casting their lures to catch the fish (voters). There will be several small tournaments (debates) en route to the big one.
The entries will be eliminated, one by one, until there are only two left. The fisherman (candidate) who lures the most fish (voters) wins the tournament (election) and the big trophy.
Upward of two billion will be spent on this tournament (election). If the fish (voters) hadn't swallowed all the lures, and instead spent the money on voting machines that would allow we the fish (people) the right to vote on issues, it would have been a lot better tournament (election).
