Esther L. Groth, 89, of Olin, passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2018, in Bellevue, Iowa.
Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 15, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Olin. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, at Lahey & Dawson Funeral Service in Olin. Burial will be held at a later date at Olin Cemetery.
Esther Louise was born on Nov. 19, 1928, in Sioux County, Iowa, to Johannes and Dora (Mueller) Reyelts. She graduated from Olin High School. On Feb. 6, 1948, she was united in marriage to Dale Groth in Boyden, Iowa. Esther stayed home to raise her children and take care of daily tasks within the household, and farmed alongside her husband. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Olin, the Westside Club and the Five Hundred Club. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and playing cards. She was well-known for her wonderful cooking.
Those left to cherish her memories are her five children, Sandra (Ralph) Andresen of Olin, Becky (Daniel) McAtee of Olin, Pamela (Brian) Woods of Anamosa, Brian (Dee) Groth of Olin and Cheryl (Brent) Chambers of Bellevue; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Carol Kennedy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four sisters and two brothers.
Esther's family would like to extend a special thank-you to everyone at Hospice of Jackson County, Deanna, Wendy, Phyillis, Vickie, Dave and Faye.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to her family in her honor.
